KFAS Academy and Honeywell drive development of Kuwait’s next generation through integrated learning

In line with the New Kuwait 2035 vision to drive human capital development, KFAS Academy, a fully owned subsidiary of the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) and Honeywell, have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at training fresh graduates and boosting their technical skills in Kuwait’s energy sector, from water and electricity, to oil, gas, petrochemical and automation industries.

The signing ceremony was attended by delegates from several organizations including Director General of KFAS Dr. Adnan Shihab-Eldin, Dr. Ziad Najem, CEO of KFAS Academy, Deputy Director General of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Abdullah Al Sabah, Deputy Director General of KFAS Dr. Salem Al Hajraf and George Bou Mitri, vice president and general manager for Honeywell Building Technologies, Middle East, Turkey and Africa. The automation modules are expected to go live by August this year.

Through uniquely designed educational modules delivered through KFAS Academy’s Fresh Graduate Online Program, graduates will learn a series of soft and technical skills that will help prepare them for careers in the automation industry and in the wider energy sector.

These programs will help develop the next generation of young Kuwaitis to become the future leaders of the country’s automation industries. The skills and knowledge gained will also help drive the future development of Kuwait’s power and water projects.  Graduates who complete the online modules with high scores will have the opportunity to sign up for courses at the Honeywell Automation College near Mina Abdullah.

Dr. Ziad Najem, CEO of KFAS Academy, said: “We are extremely proud of the partnership with Honeywell. Our courses and programs at KFAS Academy aim to serve and address nationwide challenges. Collaborating with the private and public sector is a key process to ensure those challenges are being addressed and to have high impact and tangible results.”

George Bou Mitri, vice president and general manager for Honeywell Building Technologies, Middle East, Turkey and Africa, added: “The energy industry requires new skillsets, capabilities and knowledge in this era of digital transformation. It is our responsibility to support the youth and teach them about data analytics and the impact that Internet of Things (IoT) technology has across various industrial sectors. Honeywell will continue to work with KFAS and other key educational institutes to inspire young people, educate them and equip them with the right skills to become the future leaders of Kuwait’s critical industries and drive future growth and sustainable development.”

Honeywell has had a presence in Kuwait for more than half a century, and has played a key role in many of Kuwait’s major oil and gas projects, driving sustainability, energy efficiency, productivity and improving safety through cutting-edge technology.
