For the Scientific & Research Community

We aim to enhance research and development in Kuwait by funding carefully selected scientific research proposals and building the capacity of the research community. We also celebrate scientific achievements by awarding various prizes to Kuwaiti and Arab scientists worldwide. Furthermore, We collaborate with renowned international institutions to facilitate cooperation with local scientists and researchers.

Our strategic partnerships with prestigious academic and research institutions around the world are designed for the benefit of young researchers, business leaders and senior decision makers in both the private and public sectors. These partnerships provide opportunities to understand, manage and implement a culture of science, technology and innovation and adopting a culture based on knowledge within Kuwaiti institutions and corporations.

Sciences PO

This program develops partnerships and joint initiatives between Kuwaiti academics and the elite French university Sciences Po in a wide array of major fields of interests. These partnerships focus on research, teaching, capacity building, student support and knowledge exchange.

The program has five components: a two-year Kuwait research chair at Sciences Po, an annual visiting professor position, research activities, the “Platform for Debate” series of events in Kuwait and Student Activities.

  • The Kuwait Chair at Sciences Po is a two-year position to develop original research and teach on subjects related to both the Gulf region and the Arab world at large.
  • The one-semester visiting professorship at Sciences Po supports a researcher working on subjects related to the Arab world, ideally on Kuwait or the Gulf region in particular.
  • Sciences Po periodically announces calls for research projects based on the needs of Kuwaiti stakeholders, as set by KFAS.
  • The “Platform for Debate” is an annual series of events in Kuwait to spread knowledge about subjects research in the social sciences and humanities, as well as to raise awareness about the Kuwait Program and Sciences Po. This includes a special guest lecture each semester and several major conferences for advancing research and public debate.
  • Student Activities include the Student Paper Award, which honors an outstanding Sciences Po or Kuwait University student who has written on a topic related to the Gulf region or the Arab world.
